The Honeycombs burst onto the pop scene with the worldwide hit number one “Have I The Right” in 1964 followed by another Howard and Blakely composition “That’s The Way” followed by other hits “Is It Because” and the Ray Davies penned “Something Better Beginning”.
The New Honeycombs have all toured with one of the founder members and are currently on tour in their own right in The Rock Around The Sixties Theatre Tour recreating authentic live music sounds of the Sixties and reflecting The Honeycombs hits.
The current line-up includes:-
Angela Rose – Lead Vocals began singing professionally when she left school and spent many years working on cruise ships and cabaret around Europe. She was the lead singer with the 70’s chart group Butterscotch for 8 years prior to joining “The Honeycombs”.
Paul Bonner – Drums / Lead Vocals is the band leader and during his career has been the drummer with 60’s /70’s chart group Katch 22. He has also worked with Wayne Fontana, the Easybeats and many other well-known names from the 60’s & 70’s.
John Quinn – Lead Guitar / Lead Vocals has been on the music scene for more years than he will admit. He was the lead guitarist with 60’s group The Raiders, has worked with 60’s hit maker “Twinkle” and more recently guitarist and vocalist with 60’s Mersey band “The Fourmost “. John brings musical excellence, a Liverpool accent and a touch of humour to the event!
Jeff Malin – Bass Guitar / Vocals became a musician when he left school in 1963. He was very much part of the 60’s music scene as a member of “The Beat Syndicate” who were the support band for many famous artists such as “The Rolling Stones”, “Tom Jones”, “Dusty Springfield”, “Lulu & The Luvvers”, “Peter & Gordon”… The list goes on!!
Together they re-produce an authentic 60’s sound with four-part harmony vocals and promise you a trip down musical memory lane including, of course, a sample of “The Honeycombs” hits. The group also incorporate a section of comedy cabaret incorporating a feature on ‘old adverts from the 60’s’.
